Welcome to Storied Chicago!

Chicago is a beautiful and sometimes brutal place, full of contradictions and contrasts. It's known for world-class art and universities, breathtaking architecture, a magnificent lake shore-and for its gritty industrial past, pervasive violence and stark class and racial divides.

Above all, the city is a place of stories. They're how we make sense of things, entertain ourselves, share experiences, express values, and make a place our home. Storied Chicago is a space to share stories of the people and institutions of Chicagoland. We're glad you found us, and we hope you'll be a part of it.

We welcome submissions of original interviews, essays, and editorials about work, relationships, the arts, history, and current events in Chicagoland.

If you would like to submit a piece of writing for publication at Storied Chicago, contact us at storiedchicago@gmail.com and write "Submission" in the subject line. Also include a short biographical statement that speaks to your knowledge of the subject, and paste the text of your submission in the body of your message. Submissions should be a maximum of 750 words.

We are also interested in submissions of original photographs of Chicagoland and/or its residents.  If you would like to submit pictures, email them as attachments to storiedchicago@gmail.com. Please write "Photo Submission" in the subject line and include a short biographical statement as well as a description of your work in the body of your email.

We are delighted to hear your suggestions for interviews/stories. Please write us at storiedchicago@gmail.com, and include "Story Suggestion" in the subject line.
